Membership
The ITD Alliance is a membership-based organisation composed of a dynamically growing community of experts and institutions engaged in collaborative modes of research and education. The ITD Alliance is open for all institutions and individuals engaged in and willing to promote collaborative modes of research and education.
All institutional and individual members contribute to strengthening the Alliance in order to advance collaborative modes of research and education globally.

Institutional Membership

Fees
The range of fees represents our desire to respect economic differences in regions and in the sizes of institutions, based on number of employees. To determine the fee for your institution, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Identify your institution size
Find the total number of your staff and faculty in the appropriate row in the Fee Table below.
It is possible to join as a smaller unit of a larger institution. A smaller unit might be “Centre for Transdisciplinary Research and Education, XYZ University”. In this case, your Institution Size would be determined by the number of employees in that smaller unit. See examples on the Institutional Members page of the ITD Alliance website.
Step 2: Identify your economic context
Find your context in the appropriate column of the Fee Table below.
Context groups are based on the World Bank classification of countries.
Step 3: Locate the fee
Your annual membership fee is at the intersection of the size row and context column identified in the previous steps. You will indicate this fee in the ITD Alliance Institutional Membership Application Form.
Example: The annual fee for a department of 75 employees in a university from a high income context would be 1000 CHF.

Beneficiaries
Institutional membership includes full membership benefits for a specific number of individuals, depending on institution size, regardless of economic context (see Fees above). These individuals are nominated in the ITD Alliance Institutional Membership Application Form.

Individual benefits include discounts on conferences and access to Member Area resources on the website. See Benefits and Opportunities for details on all benefits. Additional individuals from the institution can be nominated to receive benefits at the same rate. Students can also be nominated at half of that rate.
Example: An institution with “Up to 20 employees”, from an upper-middle income context, would have a 150 CHF annual fee, with 5 individuals to receive full benefits. This is an effective rate of 30 CHF per person. The composition of these “5” individuals could be 4 regular staff/faculty and 2 PhD students (which count as half each). Additional individuals to receive full benefits can be nominated for 30 CHF each (students for 15 CHF).

Membership is open for all individuals engaged in or interested in collaborative modes of research and education.
Benefits of individual membership include:
- Being part of a dynamically growing community of experts and leading institutions in inter- and transdisciplinarity
- Reduced conference registration fees (ITD Alliance and others)
- Early access to news and resources related to inter- and transdisciplinarity around the world, including conferences, funding opportunities, policy developments, toolkits, and publications (ITD Alliance Newsletter)
- Promotion of member publications in the ITD Alliance Newsletter and on the website
- Opportunities to engage with a global community of like-minded individuals
- Opportunities to join and form Working Groups to develop and strengthen areas of inter- and transdisciplinarity
- Global visibility as an ITD Alliance member on the website
- Access to networking and professional development resources through the Member Area on the ITD Alliance website
Membership fee for individuals:
Annual fee: CHF 100 (Swiss Francs).
Annual reduced fee for students, individuals from low-income contexts, retired, and unemployed: CHF 40 (Swiss Francs)
Those in difficult financial situations are invited to nominate a lesser amount that they are willing and able to pay or to request a fee waiver. These requests will be reviewed by the Leadership Board. In the form below, select fee type: Reduced-Low Income and indicate your proposed amount in the Remarks field.
Membership will be active for 12 months from the month payment is received. Renewal invoices will be sent prior to the expiration month.
