ITD Alliance Reports
Beginning May 2026, this page will serve as a repository of full reports and important news items related to ITD Alliance activities, primarily from the Leadership Board and President, Working Groups, Regional Networks, and ITD Conferences. Previously, these reports were presented in full in the ITD Alliance News Bulletin.
In April 2026, the News Bulletin was redesigned for easier viewing and less scrolling by providing only brief descriptions of news items and linking to full details in online sources. Reports and news items related to ITD Alliance core activities will continue to be announced in the News Bulletin with a title, brief summary, and a link to the relevant item on this page for the full report.
Reports are grouped by fiscal year (September-August) and source of report. Individual reports are presented in reverse chronological order based on when they appear in the News Bulletin (most recent on top; date noted for each item). In most cases, these reports are also duplicated on the web pages of the relevant groups.

WORKING GROUPS
Organizational Change for Inter- and Transdisciplinarity Working Group
Mid‑year activities report (October 2025 – April 2026), Click for full report (announced in 27 May 2026 News Bulletin)
Since the General Assembly in October 2025, the Organizational Change for Inter‑ and Transdisciplinarity Working Group has continued to develop as a practice‑oriented forum supporting institutions in advancing inter‑ and transdisciplinary (ITD) research and education. The Working Group brings together researchers, leaders, managers, and administrative professionals from diverse organizational contexts to exchange experiences and co‑develop insights on institutional change for ITD.
A core activity during the reporting period has been the continuation of a structured series of online workshops following a shared “Common Room” format. In December 2025, the Working Group hosted its second workshop on Developing an Interdisciplinary Workforce for the Institutionalization of Interdisciplinarity, featuring a thematic presentation from Université Laval on competency frameworks for interdisciplinary training, followed by a commentator from Utrecht University and a moderated discussion and breakout sessions. The workshop attracted more than 20 participants from multiple regions and generated active peer learning around skills, organizational roles, and institutional strategies.
In parallel, the Working Group has advanced two longer‑term collaborative initiatives: the Library Project, aimed at collecting and annotating key literature and practical resources on organizational change for ITD in a Zotero database, and the Impact Project, which focuses on advocacy and influence in policy, funding, and publishing contexts. Together, these initiatives support shared reference points and practical guidance across institutional settings.
Looking ahead, the group is preparing contributions and sessions for ITD27, while continuing its workshop series and collaborative projects to strengthen institutional capacities for inter‑ and transdisciplinary work. Updates and recordings of previous meetings are available in the Working Group website, https://itd-alliance.org/working-groups/organizational-change-for-itd/.
The “Value Project” of the Integration Experts and Expertise Working Group
Mid‑year activities report (October 2025 – April 2026), Click for full report full report (announced in 27 May 2026 News Bulletin)
This project is a part of the Integration Experts and Expertise working group, collegially referred to as the “Value Project” has continued with online workshops. Its central focus is developing ways to assess and articulate the contributions of integration expertise in inter- and transdisciplinary research, education and practice. The project explores both how the value created by integration experts can be meaningfully traced and captured, and how these contributions can be more effectively communicated and recognised in various settings.
The inaugural workshop in October 2025 was followed by a second workshop in January, with 17 participants. A third workshop was held in late April with a smaller group, allowing for more focused discussion. Across the workshop series, activities have centred on identifying current challenges, eliciting and capturing stories of value created by integration experts, as well as identifying ways to better assess, evidence and communicate the contributions of integration experts. This work is now being synthesised into a shared roadmap, alongside preparations for a proposed workshop at ITD27. The convenors of the Value Project are Giedre Kligyte, University of Technology Sydney; Claes-Fredrik Helgesson and Helena Grönqvist, Uppsala University and Ekaterina Kutafina, University of Cologne.
