The fourth General Assembly of the ITD Alliance was held online in two identical meetings on 17 and 18 October 2024 (depending on time zone).

Note: This message has been modified since 2 September to correct Leadership Board Information Session times for Sydney and Auckland, and to include the addition requirement that Leadership Board nominations from members representing institutional members should attach a letter of endorsement from the head of their institution.
Voting Results
The voting period was 17 -28 October 2024. 38 eligible forms were received through the online voting form. Motions 1-6 were carried with the required majority of support votes.
Motions 1-4 sought approval of the activities of the Leadership Board, including President, Financial, and Executive Secretaries reports). A simple majority was required.
- That the General Assembly accepts the report of the President. (Support: 37, Do Not Support: 0, Abstain: 1)
- That the General Assembly accepts the financial report.(Support: 35, Do Not Support: 0, Abstain: 3)
- That the General Assembly accepts the reports of the Interim Executive Secretary and the Former Executive Secretary. (Support: 37, Do Not Support: 0, Abstain: 1)
- That the General Assembly accepts the report of Leadership Board activities and the member reports. (Support: 35, Do Not Support: 0, Abstain: 3)
Motions 5 and 6 were proposed changes to the bylaws of the ITD Alliance to increase regional diversity on the Leadership Board. A two-thirds majority was required.
- That the General Assembly accepts the proposal to reserve four currently unfilled positions for members from Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East and North Africa. (Support: 34, Do Not Support: 3, Abstain: 1)
- If motion 5 is supported, that the General Assembly accepts the proposal that the ITD Alliance bylaw requiring at least two-thirds of Leadership Board members to be representatives of institutional members is suspended until the 2025 General Assembly. (Support: 31, Do Not Support: 7, Abstain: 0)
As motions 5 and 6 were supported, the following individuals were elected to the Leadership Board:

- Jason Prior, Institute for Sustainable Futures, Australia (Oceania)

- Rashad Hegazy, Kafr El Sheikh University, Egypt, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH GIZ-Egypt (Middle East and North Africa)
- Seema Purushothaman, Azim Premji University, India (Asia)
- Umar Ibrahim, Federal University Dutse, Nigeria (Sub-Saharan Africa)
The ITD Alliance Leadership Board for the next 12 months now comprises:
- 4 members from Europe
- 2 members from Asia
- 2 members from Latin America and the Caribbean
- 2 members from the Middle East and North Africa
- 2 members from Oceania
- 2 members from sub-Saharan Africa
- 1 member from North America
Of these 15 members, 10 are women and 5 are men, and 9 are representatives of institutional members and 6 are individual members.
This was the first election in the ITD Alliance’s history where there were more candidates than positions, which meant that three candidates could not be elected. Many thanks to those three candidates. We greatly appreciate your willingness to be involved in the ITD Alliance.
Thanks to the small number of respondents who commented. For motions 1-4, there were comments thanking those involved. Other comments provided suggestions for improved voting processes, specific explanations for how people voted, and amplification of points made in the meetings.
